Spurs to spend big on strike duo.
Tottenham are plotting a sensational £45million move to bring both David Villa and Jackson Martinez to White Hart Lane this summer, according to the London Evening Standard.
Andre Villas-Boas is keen to show the club’s ambition in the transfer market to persuade star player Gareth Bale to stay at the club despite missing out on the Premier League top four.
The Portuguese coach is also making attacking players a priority this summer, as the inconsistent form of current strike pair Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe is seen as costing the club in the second half of the season, as well as leading to an over-reliance on Bale for goals.
Villa has been linked with a move to Spurs for months, and was also reportedly close to joining Arsenal in January after falling out of favour at Barcelona. The 31-year-old goal-poacher could move for around £10million as Barca look to clear out some of their squad players this summer.
Jackson Martinez is also attracting a lot of attention from the likes of Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, but Spurs may make the Porto star a priority signing and offer £35million to beat off competition for his signature.
The Colombian has been in sensational form this season, scoring 33 goals in 38 games for Porto in all competitions in just his first season for the club.
