Reds to table offer for Arsenal target.
Liverpool are looking to beat Arsenal to the signing of Lyon attacking midfielder Clement Grenier by tabling a £12.8million bid, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 22-year-old, who has scored 7 goals and provided 9 assists for Lyon this season, has drawn comparisons to Kaka and former Arsenal winger Samir Nasri, and Arsene Wenger has admitted he is a fan of the player.
However, the Gunners have not yet made a firm move to sign him, meaning Liverpool have hoped to sneak ahead of them with a cash offer to the Ligue 1 side.
Grenier may be seeking a move away from the club, as he has asked them for a pay rise that they are seemingly unable or perhaps unwilling to pay. His demands are unlikely to phase Premier League clubs though, and Liverpool seem to fancy their chances of adding him to their squad next season.
This completes a busy day for Reds boss Brendan Rodgers, who is also believed to be closing in on a double swoop on Manchester City, with Kolo Toure and Scott Sinclair expected to join the club imminently.
And it would be a big boost for the former Swansea manager to add an attacking midfielder to his ranks, with the likes of Stewart Downing surely heading for the exit this summer after his disappointing form since joining the club from Aston Villa.
