Richard Dunne says that his Aston Villa career is over according to Sky Sports.

The Irishman revealed that he will be looking for a new club this summer because of manager Paul Lambert’s insistence on blooding young players.

“The manager is the manager and whatever he says goes, so there is no point in senior players complaining and saying that you need senior players in the team because it could just be sour grapes,” Dunne told Sky Sports News.

The 33 year old could play his first game in a year when the Republic of Ireland take on Georgia tonight.

Dunne has missed the entire season due to an injury he sustained at Euro 2012.

The Irishman is not the only experienced member of Aston Villa’s squad to be out of favour with Paul Lambert.

Both Darren Bent and Stephen Ireland have been largely side-lined this season with Lambert keen on using youth over experience.

Darren Bent in particular has been unhappy on the substitutes bench and looks set to follow Dunne out of Villa Park, with Liverpool a likely destination.

Dunne’s destination is unclear at the moment but once the Irishman gets back to full fitness, suitors are likely to come forward for the Irishman.
