Emirates Stadium side closing in on Spanish international.
Arsenal have reportedly secured a pre-contract agreement with Barcelona striker David Villa according to a report from talkSPORT.
The 31 year old Spanish international has long been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium with Arsene Wenger plotting a move for the Nou Camp bit-part player in January, now it appears that as part of those talks a deal has been put in place that could be triggered this summer.
Spanish journalist Axel Torres says he’s been informed by a senior source that Barcelona striker David Villa wants to move to England, with the Spain international reportedly showing the club’s board an pre-contract agreement to sign for Arsenal if the Catalan giants allow him to move.
Wenger may well see Villa as an ideal supporting striker as he continues to show faith in Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski as two players he believes have a great deal to offer his North London attack.
David Villa has started just 17 La Liga matches, netting ten goals in the process.
With the arrival of Neymar likely to further limit his involvement the former Valencia man may well feel that he needs regular first team football at this stage of his career, not least as there is a World Cup on the horizon.
