Spanish star to wait until after Confederations Cup to decide next move.

Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Premier League clubs hoping to sign Barcelona striker David Villa will have to be patient according to The Independent.

The Spanish striker has revealed that intends to postpone his decision until after the Confederations Cup.

Villa is part of the Spain squad that will take part in the tournament from the 15th June until the 30th June.

Villa insisted he is happy at Barcelona, but a number of Premier League sides will be hoping to tempt him away from Catalonia.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with the player’s signature in recent months, and were thought to be close to securing a deal during the January transfer window, only for Villa to decide to remain the Nou Camp.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is desperate to bring in a top name striker as he continues his search for a replacement for Robin Van Persie following a disappointing debut season from French forward Olivier Giroud.

But Arsenal are likely to face strong competition for his signature from their North London rivals Tottenham. Spurs boss Andre Vilas-Boas has made signing two new strikers his top summer priority after disappointing seasons for Manu Adebayor, who netted just five goals all year, and Jermain Defoe, who struggled for form following the turn of the year.
