The agent of Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has confirmed that the defender is set to meet with the club to hold discussions regarding his future, Sky Sports reports.

The Slovakian international found himself in and out of the side toward the end of the season and speculation has mounted to suggest that he may be on the move this summer following interest from the likes of Napoli.

The Italian side are now managed by former Reds boss Rafa Benitez, who brought the 28-year-old to Anfield in 2008 and he is believed to be keen on adding him to the ranks by moulding his squad to his liking.

However, Skrtel’s agent, Karol Csonto, has said that talks are in place to discover if the club and player are on the same wavelength.

“There has been no contact between the two clubs. Martin has a contract with Liverpool and it is important to honour that,” he said.

“Obviously Napoli know Martin well, but there cannot be any contact between us and them if they do not first reach an agreement with Liverpool.

“I will be in England next week to talk with Liverpool and define Martin’s future.”
