The agent of Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has confirmed that the defender would consider a move to Serie A giants Napoli this summer, according to talkSPORT.

The Slovakian international’s future at Anfield remains uncertain after falling out of favour at the club in the second half of the season and is set for talks soon regarding his future. Skrtel lost his place to veteran Jamie Carragher after a poor run of form and struggled to gain it back, and despite Carragher’s retirement his future is still up in the air.

Links have recently surfaced between himself and Napoli, who are now managed by former Reds boss Rafa Benitez, and Skrtel’s agent, Karol Csonto, has confirmed that the 28-year-old would be open to a move to Italy.

“Between Martin Skrtel and Rafa Benitez is a professional relationship that has gone on from the years they spent together at Liverpool,” Csonto said.

“[Napoli midfielder] Marek Hamsik and Skrtel are very good friends and they met last week. The midfielder requested information from Martin about Benitez, while Skrtel has asked questions about Napoli.

“But I think that if Napoli want to take Skrtel, they should first talk to Liverpool.”
