Cesc Fabregas has insisted that he will be staying at Barcelona this summer despite speculation linking him with a move back to the Premier League, Sky Sports reports.

The Spanish international hasn’t been a regular starter for Barca since he moved from Arsenal in 2011, facing heavy competition for a midfield spot from Xavi and Andres Iniesta.

This has led many to think that Fabregas will be looking for a move away from the Nou Camp, with a return to Arsenal on the cards or a big money move to Premier League champions Manchester United.

However, Fabregas has dismissed the rumours and said he wishes to stay at Barcelona.

“I’ve always said that I’m happy at Barca. Whoever says that I’m leaving doesn’t know me and has never spoken with me,” said Fabregas.

This will disappoint both Manchester United and Arsenal, who were looking to add Fabregas to their midfields this season.

The Spaniard would bring real quality to both sides, being the quality creative midfielder that United have been looking for and being Arsenal’s signal that they are ready to compete for major titles again.

Whether either side can change Fabregas’s mind is another matter but both could tempt Barcelona into selling by submitting bids.
