Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will look to use his connections at Chelsea to help secure the signing of highly rated youngster Lucas Piazon on a loan deal according to the Daily Mail.

Rodgers spent four years at the West London club, much of which was under Jose Mourinho, first as head youth team coach and then as reserve team manager and as such could indeed head off apparent interest from South London side Crystal Palace to help tempt the Stamford Bridge side to loan Piazon to the Anfield outfit.

The 19 year old impressed on his Premier League debut, coming on with 20 minutes to play in Chelsea’s thumping 8-0 win over Aston Villa. The teenager quickly provided an assist for Ramires before winning a penalty, which he then failed to convert.

However Piazon was then loaned out to Malaga for the second half of last term, making 11 La Liga appearances for the La Rosaleda side.

Piazon has spoken of his desire to make an impact in the forthcoming campaign, stating:

‘It’s hard to say how often I will play or if I will play at all. We have to wait and see if any Premier League clubs will be interested in me.’

Adding: ‘I am excited, everything will change. It will be very good to work with someone like Mourinho.’

Rodgers is clearly a manager who is more than willing to trust to youth and last term the Northern Irish boss was happy to give the likes of Raheem Sterling, Suso and Andre Wisdom extended spells in his first team set-up and Piazon may well feel he could gain some much needed Premier League experience from a move to the Merseyside club.
