Liverpool midfielder Lucas has expressed his belief that Luis Suarez’s departure would represent a great loss for the club according to Goal.com.

The Uruguayan striker has been no stranger to controversy since joining the club from Dutch side Ajax in 2011.

Suarez was placed under the press spotlight after allegations were made against him of making racist comments towards Manchester United’s Patrice Evra.

Suarez is also currently serving a suspension after biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic on the arm at the end of last season.

But the striker has insisted that he is the victim of a press campaign against him and has suffered undue punishments because of his relationship with the English media.

That has prompted the player to seek a move elsewhere, despite remaining popular amongst Liverpool fans and officials.

Suarez revealed that he would be interested in moving to Spanish giants Real Madrid while Bayern Munich are also thought to be monitoring his availability.

But Lucas has warned the club against allowing Suarez to leave insisting he would be a ‘great loss’ to the side.

Lucas signed a new contract at Anfield last season and will have been at Anfield for eleven years should he see out his current deal. The player revealed he is enjoying life on Merseyside and is looking forward to his future with the club.
