The Saints have sign Lovren for £8.5 million.
Southampton have bolstered their defence already this summer by signing Lyon defender Dejan Lovren according to Goal.com.
The defender has been chased by a number of clubs throughout Europe, including Liverpool but he has now settled at St Mary’s.
The club confirmed the signing by posting a picture of Lovren signing his contract with the club on Twitter.
The transfer fee that Southampton will pay to Lyon is thought to be around £8.5 million, thought to be a large part of Southampton’s transfer budget this summer.
The signing of such a highly coveted player will send a message to other clubs in the Premier League that the south coast club intend to keep moving up the Premier League table.
Lovren has said that he is happy to have joined Southampton and is looking forward to playing in the Premier League this season.
“After three-and-a-half years in France, it was a dream to play in the Premier League. Now the dream has come true”.
Southampton had a successful first season back in the Premier League, with manager Manuel Pochettino managing to keep the club away from the relegation places.
The Saints may have their eyes on spots further up the table and could look at trying to break into Europe.
