Nou Camp side keen on Old Trafford forward.
Barcelona are readying a move to offer €12m (£10m) and Thiago Alcantara in exchange for Man United striker Wayne Rooney according to Spanish source Sport.es.
Man United are known to be interested in Spanish international Thiago and could feel that a move to land the young midfielder is worthy enough to sacrifice England star Wayne Rooney, a player who has of course allegedly issued a verbal transfer request.
David Moyes could feel that he can afford to offload the 27 year old forward, not least because with the likes of Robin Van Persie, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck in his armoury he may feel he has enough options in his Old Trafford attack.
Certainly moves to improve his central midfield options will be a more pressing issue to deal with during the summer transfer window.
Alcantara greatly impressed at the European Under 21 Championships, leading his side to the title and scoring an excellent hat-trick in Spain’s final victory over Italy.
The 22 year old is available for as little as £15m due to a release clause that can be triggered at a reduced rate due to the player’s lack of first team involvement.
Moyes will be looking to freshen up his midfield options having seen Paul Scholes retire from the game for a second time and with concerns over Darren Fletcher’s ongoing return from long term illness there is certainly scope to bring in a player of the style of Thiago Alcantara, a player who clearly has the potential to make a long term impact.
