Franco Baldini set for talks with Spanish striker.
Tottenham are hopeful of signing Barcelona striker David Villa and hope to conclude a deal in the coming days according to The Daily Mail.
Spurs boss Andre Vilas-Boas has made bringing in some attacking reinforcements his top priority this summer and he has reportedly identified Villa as the man he believes can fire Spurs to glory.
It is understood that the White Hart Lane club have been waiting for the official appointment of Franco Baldini before conducting any serious transfer negotiations but Spurs are now ready to make their move for Villa after the Italian Director of Football arrived last week.
Villa managed to score 16 goals in all competitions for Barcelona last season as he continued his recovery from a broken leg. It is thought the player is still highly rated by the Spanish giants but competition for a first team place at the Nou Camp is fierce, especially since the arrival of Brazilian wonderkid Neymar.
It is thought that Villa is open to a move to the Premier League as he looks to secure first team football with the next summer’s World Cup finals tournament in Brazil just around the corner.
Arsenal are also thought to be interested in his signature but have been recently focusing their efforts on the signing of Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain.
