Christan Benteke’s future at Aston Villa looks in doubt after the striker handed in a transfer request on Monday as the club departed for their tour to Germany, the Daily Mirror reports.

The striker was not among the touring party and it has been revealed that Benteke has asked to leave the club after only one season at Villa Park.

The Belgian strikers future has been the subject of speculation for most of last season following his excellent performances for Villa.

Benteke scored 19 goals for Villa last season, helping the club avoid relegation from the Premier League.

However, it looks like the Belgian striker has played his last game for Villa as he searches for first team football at a bigger club.

Benteke’s transfer request could now trigger a bidding war between Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool who are all thought to be interested in signing the striker this summer.

It seems that Spurs are best placed to sign Benteke and Andre Villa-Boas may now make a bid for the Belgian after missing out on his main transfer target this summer, Barcelona’s David Villa.

Reports suggest that Benteke wants to be playing first team football for a top club next season so that he can be a part of Belgium’s squad for next summer’s World Cup.
