Anfield side to make offer for Valencia defender.
Liverpool are ready to launch a bid to sign Valencia full-back Aly Cissokho this week, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Reds hope to beat Tottenham and West Brom to the signing of the French defender, as they continue their search for a long-term answer at left-back. Brendan Rodgers is hoping he can acquire the 25-year old defender on the cheap this summer due to Valencia’s financial problems, with a bid of around £4million reportedly being readied by the Liverpool boss.
French source L’Equipe report he has emerged as one of Rodgers’ top targets this summer, hoping a deal can be agreed soon. Having played 20 times in La Liga last season for Valencia, Cissokho is open to a move abroad, with numerous Premier League clubs interested in him. He is said to be attracted by Premier League competition.
Liverpool were priced out of a move for Lille defender Lucas Digne, thus their interest in Cissokho. The French club stuck a £15million price-tag on the teenage defender this summer, which has thwarted the approaches of Arsenal and Manchester City. Monaco are believed to be closing in on Digne, following reports they are close to agreeing a fee, however, Galatasaray have also emerged as a potential landing spot for the impressive French youngster.
