Anfield club slap mega-bucks price tag on want-away striker.
Liverpool have warned Arsenal that they will have to cough up £50 million if they hope to secure the signing of Luis Suarez according to The Express.
The Uruguayan striker has made no secret of his desire to leave the club this summer after speaking publically on the matter on a number of occasions.
Suarez initially suggested that he was keen to secure a move to Real Madrid in order to allow him to escape the attention of the English press however, following reported interest from Arsenal, Suarez changed his story claiming that he was motivated by a desire to play Champions League.
Real Madrid were thought to have been favourites to sign Suarez but they are yet to act on their reported interest.
That has paved the way for Arsenal to move in to pole position in the race for his signature after the Gunners bid £40 million plus £1.
Their intention was to activate a minimum fee release clause in the player’s contract but Liverpool are insisting that they are under no obligation to accept the offer.
Arsenal believe otherwise but taking the matter to court could be a lengthy process taking many months.
Arsenal may instead decide to bite the bullet and meet the Merseyside club’s transfer demands.
