The former Barcelona player insists that Bayern Munich were the only club that he was interested in joining this summer.
Thiago Alcantara has claimed that Manchester United never showed any interest in him and that the only club he wanted to join this summer was Bayern Munich, Sky Sports reports.
The Spanish midfielder left Barcelona for Bayern Munich earlier this month despite speculation that he could move to Manchester United.
The players father, Mazinho, has recently said that the Red Devils were close to signing Thiago but lure of Bayern Munich proved to much for the Spaniard.
However, Thiago contradicts his father statement and says that Manchester United never approached him about a transfer.
“The truth is that in no moment did United come to us and talk to us. It came from the press, it was always a lie,” he said.
Thiago left Barcelona after for a reduced price because he didn’t play enough first team games for the Spanish Champions last season and the midfielder feels that his former club didn’t do enough to persuade him to stay.
He said: “It’s unfair to say I wasn’t patient. The club knew my situation. I waited for them, especially before the European Championship, but they never contacted me. I didn’t feel valued”.
Thiago has now joined up with former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich and reports suggest that is one of the main reasons why the Spaniard chose to join the European Champions.
