Manager explains pause in transfer activity.
Liverpool Boss Brendan Rodgers has insisted that he will not spend the club’s money just for the sake of it this summer and has admitted that he is painstakingly planning each one of the club’s signings, Sky Sports reports.
Already this summer Rodgers has overseen the arrivals of Simon Mignolet, Kolo Toure, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto through the gates at Anfield, but would not give anything away when it came to whether more arrivals would be on their way in.
“They have to be of the right quality, that’s the bottom line,” Rodgers told the club’s official television station LFC TV.
“We’ve got money to spend on getting that quality in but if it’s not available I won’t waste it for the sake of bringing a player in.
“We’re really working hard to bring in the type of profile that can really help us push on.”
Rodgers also took time out to praise young winger Raheem Sterling who has made all the right noises during the pre season campaign about bouncing back after fading away towards the tail end of last season.
“He has reminded me of what he was last summer, but he has got a little bit more personality now he has had a year’s experience. At 18, he has looked really good.”
