Liverpool striker refuses to attend after-match gala.
Dressing room relations at Anfield could be set to sour after Luis Suarez refused to attend an after-match gala following Steven Gerrard’s testimonial according to The Guardian.
Liverpool ran out 2-0 winners against Greek side Olympiakos, with the proceeds going towards a children’s charity.
Suarez, making his first appearance at Anfield since publically announcing his desire to leave Liverpool, received a warm welcome from the Kop but their goodwill is unlikely to last much longer.
After the game, a gala was organised to help raise money for the charity and Suarez was the only member of the Liverpool team not to attend.
Suarez’s move comes as a surprise after Gerrard has come out and repeatedly backed the striker in recent weeks.
Gerrard has urged Suarez to stay at Anfield and it was thought that the pair shared a good relationship.
Suarez is reportedly unhappy with Liverpool after the club refused to allow him to discuss terms with Arsenal.
The Uruguayan star believes a minimum fee release clause in his contract has been met after Arsenal made an offer of £40 million plus £1 but Liverpool are insisting they merely have to consider the offer and are not obliged to accept it.
