Catalan giants preparing bid for Brazilian defender.
Barcelona are preparing to test Chelsea’s resolve to keep hold of defender David Luiz by offering the Premier League side £35 million according to The Sun.
Luiz’z future has come under speculation in recent months following the appointment of Jose Mourinho as the club’s new manager.
Mourinho is thought not to rate Luiz and could be tempted into selling the defender in order to raise funds for other signings.
The Portuguese boss has claimed that Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is the club’s only remaining transfer target this summer but that could change should Luiz depart from Stamford Bridge.
Speculation over a possible bid for the floppy-haired Brazilian increased after he was left out of the club’s squad for their friendly tie against Real Madrid.
Barcelona are known to be in the market for a new defender as they look to bring in an eventual successor to club stalwart David Luiz.
They have been linked with the likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels and Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany but have so far been frustrated in their attempts to bring someone.
Barcelona chiefs are reportedly ready to turn to Luiz as they believe the defender would fit in seamlessly into the club’s passing style of football.
