The defender has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.
Chelsea will not be selling defender David Luiz this summer and believe that he will play a crucial role in the clubs bid to win the Premier League title this season, the Daily Mirror reports.
Barcelona are reportedly desperate to land Luiz, feeling that the defender would fit in well with the clubs style of play.
Recent reports have suggested that the Catalan giants would be willing to pay as much as £45 million to land the Brazilian, who joined Chelsea in 2011.
Speculation mounted on Sunday when Luiz was left out of the clubs pre-season friendly against AC Milan, with some suggesting that he missed the match because of the speculation surrounding his future.
However, the defender missed the match as a precaution having picked up a minor injury and will be back for the clubs final game of the tour on Saturday.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has done everything he can to re-buff speculation that he wants to sell the defender and said that he has been impressed with Luiz during pre-season.
“David has come back with us fantastically and we have to use his quality,” said the Chelsea manager.
“He has big self-confidence and self-esteem, especially when he comes up from the back with the ball”.
Roman Abramovich is known to be a huge admirer of Luiz so it would take a very big offer from Barcelona for Chelsea’s owner to consider selling the Brazilian.
