Liverpool are set to launch a £12m bid for highly rated La Liga left-back Guilherme Siqueira according to the Daily Express.
Local rivals Everton had also been linked with a move for the 27 year old Granada wide-man, perhaps with a view to replacing Leighton Baines if the Toffees fail to keep hold of the England man, but Brendan Rodgers is clearly keen to step-up efforts to land the Brazilian.
Rodgers may feel that first choice left-back Jose Enrique needs the presence of a quality player to keep him on his toes, and certainly the only real competition to his place comes from Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson, both of whom occupy other spots in the Liverpool defence.
Siqueira helped Granada to promotion to La Liga in his first season at the Spanish club and impressed many last term and the former Udinese man may feel a high profile move could help him to secure a first national cap.
Rodgers has already brought in Iago Aspas, Simon Mignolet, Luis Alberto and Kolo Toure this summer but has covered the cost of these additions with the sales of Jonjo Shelvey and Andy Carroll and as such should have the funds to make the £12m bid without too much of an issue.
