Play the way i tell you or you won’t play at all
Adelaide United Coach Josep Gombau has issued an ultimatum to his players, learn to play the Barca way or leave the club altogether.
The recently appointed former Nou Camp academy man is single minded when it comes to getting players to adapt to his new 4-3-3 formation.
Gombau plans to instill the breed of quick, fluent passing football that Barcalona are synonymous with, any player who can’t fit the mould won’t be at Hindmarsh for very long.
Speaking to Adelaide Now Gombau said: ” It is difficult as every player has his style, for some players the style is easy, for some it is something we work on.If there if are some players who cannot play this style we will need to move.
“If somebody is moving we need to find the players to play this style.
“I am satisfied with the team but there are many things we need to address, step by step, day by day. We have a long way to go,”
No one is exempt from this regime, striker Bruce Djite could find himself forced out of Adelaide if he doesn’t adapt. With new arrival’s Sergio Ciro and Jeronimo both more suited to Gombau’s system
The Spaniard said: “Tuesday was Bruce’s first game this pre-season. From what I have seen he is a good player but needs to work to understand this style.”
