QPR boss Harry Redknapp has failed with a bid to be reunited with his former charge Scott Parker of Tottenham Hotspur, Sky Sports reports.

The ex-Spurs boss has already seen an enquiry for striker Jermain Defoe knocked back by the Premier League side earlier this week and now Redknapp must decide whether to go back in a second time for is former skipper.

However, ‘Arry has already identified a second target in the shape of unwanted Liverpool man Oussama Assaidi. The Moroccan winger was signed from Dutch side Heerenveen last summer in a £2.4m deal, but did not start once in last season’s Premier League.

QPR want him on loan after it appeared that he was surplus to requirements at Anfield, and talks with Liverpool over a deal are ongoing.

Parker also seems to be slipping down the pecking order at White Heart Lane. The Football Writer’s Player of the Year for 2011 saw a limited amount of action last term, making just 28 appearances across all competitions in what is a famously overcrowded Spurs midfield.

Spurs have also recently signed Nacer Chadli, who will provide yet more competition for the 32-year-old and he will have to make an important decision regarding his future.
