Centre back well on the road to recovery

The Sky Blues Dutch defender made his first appearance his year in Sydney FC’s friendly game against Udinese.

Pascal Bosschaart suffered an Achilles injury in March 2012, he then undertook surgery in January 2013 for heel problem which has put him out of contention until now.

Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald Bosschaart, discussed how pleased he was to be playing again after so long.

” I can look back at this as a really nice return. It’s been eight or nine months out of the picture and it’s a big relief. That was a crazy time.

“I’m not at the fitness level that I want to be at just yet but it’s only a matter of games before I’m there.”

. “The plan was to play 30 minutes, maybe 45, and then at half-time the coach] asked me how I felt, and I told him I was fine and he said I could stay on for another 15 minutes.

“That was great to be out there for so long because the more minutes you get, the more prepared you are. It’s also a risk, especially when you’re not quite ready, but it all went well.”

Both sides played weakened line-ups but after much encouragement Frank Farina was persuaded to bring on Del Piero for the final ten minutes.

The Sky Blues ran out 5-3  winners in a dramatic affair. Joel Chianese and Mitch Mallia securing the victory with two goals apiece.
