Arsenal are looking to step up their efforts to sign want-away Liverpool striker Luis Suarez with the Gunners readying a contract offer that would make the Uruguayan the club’s highest paid player of all time according to the Metro.

Arsene Wenger has seen previous bids to sign Suarez fail but is said to be confident of landing the prolific marksman and has drawn up a massive contract for the Liverpool forward, to act as a further incentive to the former Ajax man to push for an Anfield exit.

Wenger is to offer Suarez a four year deal worth £160k a week, which equates to a mammoth £33m in total, an offer that is a significant increase on the player’s current £120k a week salary.

The offer eclipses the earnings of Arsenal’s current top earners comfortably, Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski both on £100k a week deals.

Arsenal will also offer Suarez a big signing on fee and expect movement on a move to sign the Liverpool man in the next few days.

The North London side haven’t spent a single penny on new additions thus far this summer and Wenger is keen to bring in Suarez to greatly improve an attack that currently has to heavily rely on French forward Olivier Giroud. Though the 26 year old has had a good pre-season, scoring eight goals, his record of 11 goals in 34 Premier League appearances last term could hardly be considered as earth-shattering.

It is clear Wenger is desperate to bring in Suarez and will hope that Liverpool relent on their ‘not for sale’ policy which could leave the Merseyside club stuck with an unhappy player come September 3rd.
