Napoli’s on loan goalkeeper Pepe Reina has welcomed news that former teammate Martin Skrtel has been linked with a move to the club this summer, Sky Sports reports.

The San Paolo outfit have been linked with the Slovakian defender after he’d fallen out of favour with Liverpool towards the end of last season and has subsequently been tipped to move on during the transfer window with former boss Rafa Benitez looking to raid his old side for the defender.

Reina, however, did admit that he did not know the validity of the links, but admitted to welcoming them nonetheless.

“I don’t know what Napoli are looking for but I can say Martin Skrtel is a good player,” said Reina.

“But he is a Liverpool player. His qualities would be great for any team and he is a great player.

“I respect Liverpool, Martin Skrtel and all of the Napoli players, so I can’t say anything more about this.”

The 28-year-old centre back joined the Anfield outfit from Russian side Zenit St Petersburg in 2007 and has gone on to make 206 appearances, scoring nine goals.

He’s been a key figure for the Reds for the majority of his time at the club, but saw his playing time diminish last season.
