Three Premier League teams compete for young winger.
Liverpool will face competition from Premier League rivals Tottenham and Everton for young Porto winger Christian Atsu, according to the Daily Express.
The 21-year-old has been on the Reds’ radar for much of the summer, and they are now expected to step up their interest following the impending sale of England winger Stewart Downing to West Ham.
The Ghanian is one of many Porto players to attract serious interest from around Europe this summer, along with in-demand Colombian striker Jackson Martinez, while the club have also already lost Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez to big-spending French side Monaco.
Atsu is coming towards the end of his contract and could be available on a free next summer, though Tottenham and Everton’s interest may force Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers to move fast to get his man.
It has been a busy summer at Anfield, with Kolo Toure, Simon Mignolet, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto joining the club, Andy Carroll finally completing his exit to West Ham, and Pepe Reina joining Napoli on loan.
The biggest story however, is that star striker Luis Suarez could leave in a big money move to Arsenal, which would certainly add to the pressure for Rodgers to strengthen further.
