Red Devil boss David Moyes is hoping to sign three midfielders before the transfer window closes on September 2nd.
Manchester United manager David Moyes is set to submit bids for Ander Herrera and Daniele De Rossi, totalling £40 million, the Daily Telegraph reports.
The Scot had a £25.5 million bid for Herrera rejected by Athletic Bilbao on Friday but is set to up his offer to £30.75 million, an amount that will activate the midfielders release clause.
Moyes sees Herrera as an alternative to Cesc Fabregas, who he tried to sign earlier in the transfer window before the Spaniard decided to stay with Barcelona.
Signing Herrera shouldn’t be as complicated as the pursuit of Fabregas and Moyes will hope to complete the deal for the 24 year old over the weekend.
Moyes is also hoping to sign Daniele De Rossi but he may have trouble trying to persuade the Italian to leave Roma, a club De Rossi has been at for all of his career.
However, Roma are believed to be willing to let De Rossi leave for the right price and United are set to offer the Italian club £10 million the experienced midfielder’s services.
In addition to Herrera and De Rossi, Moyes is still hoping to sign Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini despite the Toffees reluctance to let the Belgian international leave.
