Unsettled Everton midfield player Marouane Fellaini has told head coach Roberto Martinez that he would like to join Premier League champions Manchester United this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The Red Devils have been keeping close tabs on the giant Belgium international since the end of last season, as well as Fellaini’s team-mate Leighton Baines.

New United manager David Moyes knows both players well from his time in charge of the Toffees, with the Scot having signed them while at Goodison Park.

Moyes has so far seen an initial bid for the pair rejected out of hand by the Merseyside giants, however, it is understood that United have returned with an improved offer for the duo worth £36 million.

And the 25-year-old has now indicated to the Everton boss that he wants to quit the club and move to Old Trafford before the close-season transfer window slams shut for business for the year on Sept 2.

Fellaini, who was signed from Standard Liege in 2008 for a club-record £15m, has a contract at Goodison that runs until June 2016 and having scored an impressive 33 goals in just 176 matches in total for Everton, is likely to cost United at least £25m to purchase.
