Red Devils saw £10m bid for Italy star rejected on Friday.

Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Serie A giants AS Roma have warned Manchester United against returning with an improved offer for coveted midfield player Daniele De Rossi, according to reports on Sky Sports Italia.

The Premier League champions are understood to have lodged a bid worth just £10 million for the 30-year-old on Friday afternoon which was immediately rejected out of hand by the Romans.

However, it is believed that the Red Devils are preparing an improved offer for the Italy international as new head coach David Moyes attempts to land his first major signing of the summer transfer window.

Either way, Roma are adamant that their star man will not be allowed to leave the Stadio Olimpico under any circumstances and for any price on transfer deadline day and as such, they have told United not to waste their time by returning for De Rossi.

“As for De Rossi, we will always reply ‘no thank you’ to any formal offer that is proposed for him, as would the player,” Roma director Mauro Baldissoni told Sky Sport Italia.

“Both Roma and Daniele are coming off a year that didn’t go well and we want to make up for that together.”

De Rossi featured for the Giallorossa in their comfortable 3-0 win over Verona in the league on Sunday night, a victory that maintained their 100 per cent start to the new season under recently appointed manager Rudi Garcia, with the attacking midfield player and club captain turning in yet another commanding display in the centre of the park for his home-town club.
