Old Trafford side interested in Nou Camp right-back.
Check in to Manchester City vs Manchester United
Man United are reportedly set to join a host of interested parties in pursuit of Barcelona defender Martin Montoya according to Inside Futbol.
The 22 year old will be available on a free transfer next summer and can be tied down to a pre-contract agreement in January with the likes of Liverpool, Inter Milan, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen hovering over the Nou Camp man.
Montoya is said to be unhappy with the lack of first team opportunities available to him at Barcelona and the right-back’s agent has admitted that his client could be ready to leave the club he has represented since the age of eight.
The former Spanish Under 21 international has made a total of just 15 La Liga starts since making his debut for the Catalan club back in February 2011.
David Moyes may feel the opportunity to pick up a player of Montoya’s ability and potential on a free transfer is too good to pass up though the Scot has a fair few options to call upon when it comes to filling the Man United right-back berth with Phil Jones and Rafael being his two most commonly used players for the role.
