Young Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has joined Championship side Birmingham City on loan on a one month loan deal, Sky Sports reports.

The 20-year-old has linked up with Lee Clarke’s men in order to boost their ranks as the current squad have struggled so far this season, winning just one and losing five of their opening seven matches.

Clarke has identified Ligard, who can play anywhere across the midfield as the ideal man to give the side a boost as he is highly regarded as one of the most talented young players that is currently on the fringes of the side up at Old Trafford.

Lingard earned his first cap for the England under-21 side last month, but has yet to make a first team appearance for United yet. He spent part of last season on loan with Leicester City where he made five substitute appearances.

He is in the frame to make his debut at home to Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend, and Birmingham boss Lee Clark has been handed the number nine shirt that was vacated by controversial striker Marlon King.
