Nou Camp battler on Old Trafford radar.
Man United are thought to be taking a keen interest in speculation that Barcelona midfielder Alex Song is ready to issue a Nou Camp transfer request according to Inside Futbol.
The former Arsenal man has struggled to secure a regular foot-hold in the Barcelona first team set-up ever since he moved to the Catalan giants in August 2012.
The Cameroon international started just 17 La Liga fixtures last term and has managed just two appearances in the opening seven domestic matches this term and may well feel that he is slowly becoming surplus to requirements under new boss Gerardo Martino and may well jump at the chance of a move to Man United in January.
Though David Moyes brought in Marouane Fellaini to freshen up his Old Trafford midfield he still arguably lacks an out and out defensive midfield option and Song’s proven Premier League experience could well count in his favour if the Man United boss looks to the 26 year old Barcelona man as an ideal addition to resolve this lack of bite in the centre of his starting eleven.
Prior to his move to Barcelona Song made 205 appearances for Arsenal.
