Arsenal and Liverpool will fight to win the race for in-form Olympiacos striker Konstantinos Mitroglou this January, according to the Daily Express.

The 25-year-old Greek international has been in superb form this season, with 12 goals in 9 games so far, which have come in the form of four hat-tricks for the side.

This highly prolific form in front of goal has attracted attention from a long list of big sides around Europe, including Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Benfica and Sporting Lisbon, though Premier League pair Arsenal and Liverpool are also keen on bolstering their strike forces this January.

Arsenal had hoped to sign a striker during the summer and failed in attempts to land Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema, while Liverpool face the possible departure of Luis Suarez to Real Madrid this January and will likely be on the lookout for a replacement when the transfer window re-opens.

Mitroglou looks like he could be ready to test himself on the bigger stage, and it is no surprise to see so many big teams pondering bids for him after his incredible start to the season.

Supposedly available for around £7m, Mitroglou could certainly be one of the bargains of the next transfer window for whoever snaps him up.
