Anfield side prepare Liberty Stadium raid.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is ready to launch a fresh raid on former club Swansea City as he seeks to lure Spaniard Michu to Anfield.
CaughtOffside understands that the former Liberty Stadium boss wants to sign the 27 year old forward as Liverpool prepare to consider offers for want-away ace Luis Suarez.
Suarez has stated publicly that he wishes to leave Liverpool and after a summer of attempting to appease the former Ajax man the Merseyside club will now consider offers of around £50m for the in-form striker, with Real Madrid thought to be willing to meet the club’s asking price.
Should a sale take place then Rodgers will then make a sizable offer for Michu, thought to be in the region of £22m, an offer he hopes the South Wales side will struggle to turn down.
Rodgers previously brought in midfielder Joe Allen from Swansea City and will hope to repeat the trick in January.
Michu has earned his first senior Spanish cap last week and may see a high-profile move to Liverpool as aiding his push to be part of Vicente del Bosque’s squad for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.
The former Rayo Vallecano man cost Swansea City just £1.6m and has more than repaid that fee, scoring 22 goals in his debut season at the club, helping Michael Laudrup’s side secure a laudable top ten finish as well as a Capital One Cup success.
Thus far this season Michu has racked up another five goals in 11 matches.
