The 30-year-old is under contract in Catalonia until 2015 and is still attracting interest from all across Europe, including Premier League champions Manchester United and fellow title hopefuls Chelsea.

A clause in Alves’ contract which extra seasons can be added on ends in 2014, meaning the Brazil international will have to make up his mind about his future in the next two years.

However, Alves has claimed that he is happy with life in Spain and is not looking too far into the future.

“My future always appears in the papers.

“But I live day to day and year to year. It is a pleasure that the big European clubs are interested in my work but for now, I am very happy here, I am very clear.

“If I sign a deal, I fulfil the contract as long as the two parties are happy.

“Today, I say that Barcelona are content with my work and they are positive, as am I.”

Alves has enjoyed consistent success in Spain, winning four Spanish league titles and two Champions League medals in a five years spell.
