The 29 year old playmaker has long been linked with a move to Man United and David Moyes could well feel that January would be the ideal juncture to bring in the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid man, who is willing to take a big pay-cut to secure a switch to the Premier League title holders.

Sneijder is currently on a £6m a year deal but is willing to accept a £1m reduction to help tempt Man United into paying the £8m it would reportedly take to convince Galatasaray to sell the experienced midfielder.

Roberto Mancini would be loathed to lose Sneijder to the local rivals of his former club Man City but if the goal-scoring flair player pushes for an exit then a move in the January transfer window becomes a possibility.

Man United have started the current season very poorly and the poor form shown by the likes of Nani, Shinji Kagawa and Ashley Young may well lead David Moyes to invest in his squad.

Sneijder moved to Galatasaray in January and helped the Turkish giants to force their way into the Champions League quarter-finals last season as well as winning a domestic title.
