Premier League giants Liverpool are now said to be considering keeping hold of misfiring front man Iago Aspas after all when the winter transfer window opens again for business following a recent injury crisis at Anfield, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The Spanish striker has only been with the Reds since the summer, when Aspas was signed from La Liga outfit Celta de Vigo on a five-year deal for a fee of £7.7 million.

However, the 26-year-old has since struggled badly for form in front of goal for his new club, with the forward having so far managed just the one assist in his seven Premier League outings, and no goals either.

And as a result of Aspas’s struggles to find the back of the net, Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers was believed to be seriously considering loaning the attacker out at the turn of the year in order for his player to gain some much-needed playing time in the second half of this campaign, with a number of La Liga sides said to be interested in the Spaniard, including his former club Celta and Real Betis.

But with the Merseysiders now badly short of numbers in both midfield and in attack, Rodgers now looks like keeping hold of Aspas after all.
