The Merseyside giants have been keeping close tabs on the in-demand Egypt international all season long, with Reds head coach Brendan Rodgers understood to have been hugely impressed with what he has seen so far from the 21-year-old.
Salah was the star of the show on both of the occasions that the Swiss champions stunned Premier League side Chelsea in the group stages of this campaign’s Uefa Champions League, with the skilful winger even netting in each contest.
In fact, it is believed that the west London club were also interested in Salah too, only for the player to recently make it clear that he was only interested in a move to Anfield when the January transfer window reopens next week.
And now it is said that Liverpool are very close to being able to finalise a deal for Salah, who is contracted to Basel until June 30 2016, to join them at the turn of the year.
