The high-flying Merseysiders are known to be desperate to add more strength in depth to their back line this month, with the Reds currently suffering from a number of injuries to key defensive players, with the likes of Jose Enrique, John Flanagan and Mamadou Sakho all currently out of action with various different problems.
As a result, Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers is understood to have been scouring the transfer market of late in the search for defensive options as the Northern Irishman looks to keep the club in the top four of the Premier League come the end of the campaign.
And one player that Rodgers is believed to be keen on signing is Napoli’s 17-year-old right back, with Anastasio having also reportedly been attracting the attentions of Championship side Queens Park Rangers.
The Italian is versatile enough to be able to operate in a number of different positions, but if Liverpool do decide to press ahead with plans to bring Anastasio to Anfield in January, then it is thought the full back will still be too raw for the first team at this point though.
