The coveted France international has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks, and the 29-year-old did nothing to dispel those recent stories by telling French broadcaster Telefoot: “A departure? To discover something else next season could be interesting.

“My goal is to make a great second half of the season in the club and make a great World Cup.

“It’s been eight years since I am here at l’OM. I’ve never hidden that an experience abroad tempts me. We’ll see…”

The attacking midfielder has been in excellent form once again in the centre of the park at the Stade Velodrome so far in this campaign, with Valbuena having managed to register an impressive one goal and six assists in total in 26 matches in all competitions for both club and country, including an equally eye-catching one strike and five assists in his 17 Ligue outings for Marseille.
