Having agreed a £37m deal to sign Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata it appears that Old Trafford boss Moyes is keen to bring in further additions this month and the capture of 24 year old German international Kroos would certainly boost Man United’s rather limp midfield.
Kroos has represented Bayern Munich since the age of 16 and is a regular in Pep Guardiola’s starting eleven, this despite a great deal of competition for places at the Allianz Arena side so one wonders if Man United could convince the schemer to leave for the Premier League title holders.
However there are contractual issues at play that may give Moyes hope with Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirming talks with Kroos are ongoing, stating:
‘It is always about money in every agreement, and talks have so far failed to lead to a new contract for Toni. We are interested in prolonging his stay with us.’
With Anderson being loaned out to Fiorentina, Tom Cleverley and Shinji Kagawa failing to make a consistent impact and new signing Marouane Fellaini not exactly setting the world alight since his move from Everton there is certainly scope for a further central midfield option.
Kroos has made 181 appearances for Bayern Munich and has scored 21 goals and is a regular in Joachim Low’s German national team set-up and has 41 caps to his name.
