Man United striker Wayne Rooney is reportedly set to sign a new contract that will tie him down to the Old Trafford club until 2018 according to the Daily Mirror.

Speculation has been rife in recent weeks about the 28 year old England international’s Man United future but it seems that the lucrative offer on the table is now set to be signed, a decision that has perhaps been assisted by the imminent arrival of Juan Mata from Chelsea.
Man United are to offer Rooney a massive £300k a week deal, an increase from his current £250k pay packet, as reward for his efforts this term.
Rooney has been Man United’s most consistent performer this term and is the club’s top scorer and leading assist maker in Premier League action.
David Moyes will hope that the arrival of Mata and Rooney’s future at the club assured will help his Man United side to get into gear as the Scot looks to secure a crucial top four finish.
Wayne Rooney is into his tenth season at Man United and is the club’s fourth highest goal-scorer of all time having netted 208 goals in 424 appearances since his £20m move from Everton in August 2004.
