Jan Vertonghen – Tottenham Hotspur, £19m
The Belgian international oozes class and took to the Premier League with ease when he joined Spurs from Ajax in 2012.
He has also shown that he is a more than capable performer as a centre-back or on the left and his versatility may prove attractive to United, who desperately need new blood to replace Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra.
Vertonghen, though, has frequently expressed his discontent at being made to play at left-back, and if Moyes can convince him that he would be a regular starter in the middle then his chances of landing him would greatly improve.
