The Slovakian international has been in excellent form this term, his last ditch tackles and brave blocks have helped to keep Brendan Rodgers’s side in or around the top four pretty much the entire campaign and he is a player the Merseyside club would not want to lose.
The 29 year old centre-back is into his seventh season at Liverpool and is the club’s most reliable defensive weapon and it’s no surprise that Man City would deem the former Spartak Moscow man as an ideal partner for their skipper Vincent Kompany.
Manuel Pellegrini will see Joleon Lescott leave at the end of the season and veteran Martin Demichelis has made some schoolboy errors at the back whilst youngster Matija Nastasic is perhaps too raw to be considered a first team regular.
Skrtel has made 233 appearances for Liverpool and seems happy at the club so one wonders if he’d be open to a move to a Premier League rival.
