Ageing Barcelona legend Carles Puyol has revealed that he may leave the club at the end of the season, but is still yet to decide whether to retire or leave Spain to see out his career overseas, according to Football Direct News.
The 35-year-old is struggling to keep up with the pace of another demanding season this year and has missed chunks of the campaign with a number of niggling injuries and he has so far made just four appearances.
Alongside goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who is also leaving the club at the end of the season, French money bags Monaco are thought to be weighing up a double swoop for the pair, having signed former Barca defender Eric Abidal last summer.
Puyol has spent his entire career with the Catalan club, and has been widely regarded as one of the greatest defenders in the modern game. Since his debut with the side in 1999 he has gone on to make 592 appearances for the club, winning everything that there is to win in the game along the way.
It is thought that though he feels that he would not be able to give his all for the duration of another season, he would like to play abroad for a year before hanging up his boots for good.
