Man United are ready to re-ignite their interest in Dutch international Kevin Strootman according to Football Direct News.

Old Trafford boss David Moyes had been linked with an interest in the 23 year old last summer before the then PSV Eindhoven man opted to join AS Roma.

The rangy midfielder has proven a massive success in his first season in Serie A, playing a pivotal role in Rudi Garcia’s genuine title challenge.

This source believes it would take an offer of around £33m to convince the Stadio Olimpico side to sell Strootman and Moyes sees the youngster as a viable alternative to Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos, who is seemingly the club’s number one summer transfer target.

With Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick both over 30 and with Anderson and Tom Cleverley fighting for their Man United futures there is certainly scope for a freshening up of the club’s central midfield options.

Strootman has scored seven goals and provided seven assists thus far this season.

Prior to his move to Italy Strootman enjoyed two successful seasons with PSV and is now a regular in Louis van Gaal’s national team set-up.
