Like Valencia on the other wing, Young showed no thrust or spark up the left flank. He has the ability to cut in and shoot on his dangerous right foot, but this evening, he simply checked inside and passed the ball to a midfielder. Not what you need from a wide attacking player.
Robin van Persie – 3
Completed just the 13 passes all match, and was visibly fuming by his complete lack of service. He also missed a relatively easy chance late on to salvage something from the match late on, and complained to the media after the match that his teammates were ‘in his space’.
