Torino’s Cerci could be heading to England.
It’s set to be a busy summer of spending for Manchester United and highly rated Torino winger Alessio Cerci is the latest to be linked with Old Trafford, according to talkSPORT.
The Italy international’s current deal in Turin expires at the end of next season and the 26-year-old has turned down the opportunity to extend that, making a departure at the end of this term extremely likely.
Torino will be keen to make some money on Cerci are would be prepared to allow the attacker to leave for £13m, a sum that the Red Devils could easily come up with.
The Italian is something of a late bloomer, failing to live up to the tag of being ‘the new Thierry Henry’ at boyhood club AS Roma, before injury concerns and off the field misdemeanours interrupted his time at Fiorentina.
However, this last campaign has been brilliant for Cerci who despite playing on the right wing has managed an impressive 11 Serie A goals and 10 assists in 26 matches.
Despite not earning his first cap for the national side until the age of 25 last year, the attacking midfielder is now firmly established on the international stage and has 10 appearances to date – and is likely to make Italy’s 2014 World Cup squad.
The flanks is an area where United have particularly struggled for form in 2013/14, with Luis Nani, Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young all failing to impress.
Therefore Cerci could be a welcome addition as manager David Moyes looks to overhaul the squad at the Theatre of Dreams and make it his own.
